My Lose The Baby Weight Circuit

Finding the time to get to a fitness class or the gym is nearly impossible when you’re a new mom and there’s probably nothing more you want to do than lose the baby weight or ‘squishiness’. I’m very lucky to have been able to set up an at home gym but even then it can be hard to squeeze a workout in with a teething 5 month old so I’ve come up with a some quick and easy body weight circuits that can get done anywhere, anytime and it only takes 15-20 minutes…easily done during nap time. Give it a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below 🙂  15 Squats 15 Mountain Climbers 15 Burpees 15 Hips Thrusts 15 Lunges 15 Push-ups 15 Crunches 15 sec Plank 15 Jumping Jack Repeat 2-3 times Thank you Under Armour Canada for always supplying me with the BEST EVER active wear 🙂

When it comes to Fat Loss, keep it simple…

When it comes to fat loss, the mental approach is just as important as the physical one because having your thoughts, your mind, and your overall being SIMPLY aligned with your goals is vital to not only GET into shape but to also continuously STAY in shape. I have clients who work with me that are knowledgeable in the world of nutrition and also the science of training. Some are also familiar with different diets and dieting strategies. Many have also studied the works of countless Diet Coaches, Strength Specialists, Fitness Gurus, and Renowned Nutritionists. While some of this information is wonderful to know, because most professionals in the field have different approaches in achieving fat loss, it really won’t amount to much in one’s personal journey unless they are willing to commit their OWN MIND to their OWN GOALS. Too much information can also become an obstacle because of continuous second guessing. More often than not I find a client with a “lack of knowledge and a simple eagerness to change” a much better …

If you Talk The Talk, you better be able to Walk The Walk too…

I receive many public and private messages from strangers telling me how inspired they are by all of my STRONG GIRLS and the work they put forth not only into their bodies but also into their lifestyle. It is such a wonderful feeling to share my knowledge and experience with my clients and to have my clients share their experience with others. When it comes to my Contest Team, I’m also frequently asked when MY next show is. For the record, I’ve never competed nor do I have any plans to. I relish being behind the scenes and in front of the stage cheering my girls on during their big day followed by capturing their images to share their story. I’m also blessed to have a busy business to manage thus making it impossible for me to dedicate the time to a full contest prep of my own. My team has established a level of excellence through commitment of time, dedication to their goals, and some personal sacrifice and, at this point, I would never …

A GINORMOUS THANK YOU TO UNDER ARMOUR

I want to send a GINORMOUS (is this a word?) THANK YOU to Under Armour for not only sending me my favourite care packages in the mail for my various Fitness Projects (seriously I can never get used to this) but for also coming to the rescue for my personal requests. Earlier this year an old colleague and good friend of mine (Sean) reached out to me hoping I would be able to donate some of my older UA clothes for a friend in need. My friend’s friend (Julie) was the unfortunate victim of a house fire on January 4 in Orangeville, ON losing all of their family belongs. Thankfully nobody was hurt. Rather than donate my old clothes, I kindly asked my Under Armour team for a number of items to help out and also because Julie was a fan of the brand…and they delivered for me. Julie says, “I wanted to thank you for your generosity and kindness. The clothes you gave Sean to pass along to me all fit perfect (in truth …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Coraleigh J.

Since we’re still in Victoria, BC working off of a laptop, hubby is limited with regards to downloading all of the images that we captured this weekend but he did manage to get this photo of Coraleigh J. ready for me and WOW!!! Fresh from her very first Bikini Competition at the NPC Emerald Cup, she looked spectacular! We went up against some of the best amateur NPC competitors and teams across the country and she shined!!! That being said, there was no way I wasn’t flying down for this and capture her incredible transformation by setting up a photo shoot for her the following day. This photo is one of many stunning images that hubby captured the day after her show. I also took this from her page: Coraleigh says, “I’m finally winding down now from an AMAZING and crazy weekend that was 4 months in the making. When I first started this adventure (this personal challenge to try something so completely outside of my comfort zone, and take on THE biggest amateur Bikini …

STABILITY BALL DUMBBELL SHOULDER PRESS

With my recent neck issues due to some instability in my rhomboids and trapezius muscles, I had to adjust my training style over the last few weeks to lighter weights and more emphasis on my core. Over the last few years, minor injuries are now catching up to me causing muscle imbalances and small spasms in my neck and mid back so it’s time to adjust my training for this phase of my journey while I’m being treated. Today my principal movement for shoulder training is still the Dumbbell Press but performed on a Stability Ball (rather than seated on my adjustable bench or standing) to emphasize not only deltoid development but also core activation for balance and coordination. This exercise is also a wonderful change up for your shoulder training routine regardless of injury. Sitting on the stability ball with my feet firmly planted on the ground and my abdominals tight, my butt and hips are squeezed to ensure my pelvis remains stable and hips are flat throughout the movement. With palms facing forward, …

Are you Eating Clean or Eating Correctly?

The topic of “eating clean for fat loss” always seems to come up. Yes if you eat clean (and by that I mean 100% quality food choices and also consistently for a lengthy period of time), fat loss can be a byproduct of your food selection. However this is a really blind approach to achieving long lasting and successful fat loss. I can say first hand, I’ve fielded COUNTLESS inquiries from people saying “I eat clean but I just can’t seem to lose the weight”.I want to clarify “eating clean” doesn’t mean eating CORRECTLY when it comes to fat loss. To me, it just means you’re eating quality food sources.Further to this, in dissecting many of these messages “eating clean” also means a heck of a lot of different things to a whole lot of people. In fact, I’ve rarely found it to mean the same thing for the average person.Eating kale twice a week but eating pizza, ice cream, french fries, fried chicken, cake, and so on a numerous amount of times per week is NOT …
