My Top 5 New MOMMY Essentials!

I think all us new Mommies can attest to the research we do on ‘Baby Stuff’. We have Baby Showers for our registries and this alone can be an extremely overwhelming task for us. I personally asked all my Mommy-friends what their ‘must haves’ were and received a wide variety of answers and options. I then planned my registry around the items that were mentioned 2 or more times and now that I am a Mommy myself with a 4-week old baby boy I have come up with my Top 5 New Mommy Essentials that I could not live without! 1. TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Carey H.

I’m so proud to be a part of Carey H’s fitness journey. She came to me looking to loose weight after the birth of her 2nd baby and she has achieved so much more than that. Carey came to me very active but only relying on cardiovascular based exercise and she was disheartened because the weight kept creeping upwards so we put together a strategy that had us focusing more on resistance training (beginning with “at home” workouts and eventually transitioning to the gym) for the purpose of strength and shaping her muscles along with a diet that was calculated for her and her goals. We certainly didn’t restrict foods as my main focus was strengthening her metabolism because once we established this, then everything else would fall into place. Now that I’m almost caught up from taking some downtime from delivering my Baby Boy Jackson, I’m even more inspired by my STRONG MOMMY clients. Andrea L. absolutely kicked butt with her program and dropped 17 lbs along with shredding 5 inches around her waist, 4 inches off of her thighs, and 2 inches off of her hips. More importantly she looks phenomenal and achieved her hot body with very limited cardio work, a whole lot of carbs, and plenty of food flexibility. TEAM STRONG GIRLS Biweekly Progress – Jovana G.

I’m extremely proud to share Jovana G’s progress! This STRONG MOMMY inspires me with every check-in. Despite a slew of injuries ranging from potential meniscus tear and a torn rotator cuff from years of playing competitive basketball, nothing stops Jovana from getting her goals accomplished. Despite limiting a number of exercises because of injury, I’m so proud to share her 40 lbs (!!!) weight loss. In addition to this, she has also shredded 8 inches around her waist and 6 inches off of her hips but, even better than that, this STRONG GIRL is committed to her health and continued progress because of our sane approach to dieting which includes plenty of food flexibility. TEAM STRONG GIRLS Biweekly Progress – Amanda C.

I’m so happy to share these comparison images of the beautiful Amanda C. who is just trekking right along with her program. She came to me looking to lean out and learn more about nutrition and have it work with her very active lifestyle. This STRONG MOMMY of 3 was Crossfitting 5x/week, running, and also following a 90% Paleo Diet but was not entirely happy with her results. While she was incredibly fit, she also accumulated some unwanted body fat so we put together a strategy that was better suited to her goals by reducing her training volume with a focus on quality training (3x CrossFit Training Days), got rid distance running altogether (i.e. low intensity cardio), and definitely moved away from the Paleo approach (“Get outta here Paleo!”) and introduced a lot more carbs, carbs, and more carbs (and a heck of a lot more calories too!!!). Buh Bye Mummy Tummy – TEAM STRONG GIRLS Nicole R.

Diastasis Recti is defined as the separation of the rectus abdominis muscles into 2 halves and is very common with pregnant and postpartum women. To some, this is also known as “mummy tummy” and the good news is…it’s FIXABLE! A few months ago I worked with STRONG MOMMY Nicole R. who came to me looking to lean out and get into better shape. As a Fitness Trainer/Coach, the Squat is a fundamental movement that is incorporated in some way shape or form into every Fitness/Strength program. The term squat is “to sit or crouch with knees bent, heels close to or touching the buttocks or back of the thighs” and when it comes to Strength Training, the Squat is a compound exercise that targets the entire lower body focusing primarily on the 4 heads of the quadriceps but also develops the hamstrings, glutes, and hips. With heavier weights, the squat also promotes an environment of body wide strength development and also additional fat burning! Because this movement is so fundamental to our day-to-day activities, the squat also serves to improve on our over all functionality meaning everything we do (i.e. real life activities) will be easier. So gosh darn proud of Jovana G. who is nothing but consistent with her training (and pushing herself more week after week) and hands in awesome Dietary Compliance with every check-in. Love, love, love this! Jovana says, “Jenny I see improvements in all parts of my body! I can’t believe it and I’m fitting back into my smaller clothes. I cannot stress how much how amazing this journey is on my life because even my husband is choosing better food and exercising regularly too!
