TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Nicole B.

More than 1 year ago, Nicole B. came to me looking to lean out and maintain the muscle mass that she built up through her intense CrossFit training. In about 4 months this STRONG GIRL was posting new PRs, increased energy, leaned out immensely, and loved every single second of it! I love working with clients like Nicole because she is an absolute terror with the weights and I have often referred to her as my resident Wonder Woman or She-Hulk because…simply put…she like to life heavy sh*t. With this kind of fire burning inside her, it was only natural that she wanted to pursue something that was itching in the back of her mind for quite some time – COMPETING! I just love hearing this. This STRONG GIRL and I put together a strategy (Resistance Training, lots and lots and lots of food, and minimal cardio) to build up particular muscle groups to have her ready for Figure Category and I am so proud to say that with all of the work put in, …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Taryn R.

I had the pleasure of working with Taryn R over the last few months and, even better, had the opportunity to meet her just last week in the beautiful city of Victoria, BC to capture some images. She came to me as a full-time student finishing up her MBA looking to incorporate a training and nutrition strategy into her busy schedule. Fast forward to today and this STRONG GIRL has dropped 18 lbs along with shredding 5 inches around her belly button, 4 inches off of her thighs, and another 4 inches off of her hips. With her new lean and sexy physique, she has wrapped up her studies and has launched her own business as a Marketing Consultant! Taryn says, “This experience has beyond exceeded my expectations. I first started with Jenny because I wanted to lean out and ultimately lose some weight. However, my body has changed more than I ever could have imagined. My new physique is tight and lean and I love the muscle definition I have developed. To be perfectly …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Coraleigh J.

I’m so proud to have been a part of my client Coraleigh J’s transformation. She came to me almost 1 year ago looking for a nutrition strategy to help her lean out and to also fuel her intense CrossFit training. Hailing from the Seattle area, I was fortunate enough to meet her last year on a trip to the West Coast. We captured wonderful photos the first time around along and she showed me that she wasn’t just a gorgeous face but she was also a terror in the gym! When I suggested competing in an NPC Bikini show this STRONG GIRL was on board so we devised a longer term strategy to get her ready for her debut on the stage. Already in great shape when we started together, our total numbers were still awesome with 15 lbs lost along with dropping 4 inches off of her thighs, 3 inches around her waist, and 3 inches around her hips. More important than the numbers, this is one incredible transformation both from a physical standpoint …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Coraleigh J.

Since we’re still in Victoria, BC working off of a laptop, hubby is limited with regards to downloading all of the images that we captured this weekend but he did manage to get this photo of Coraleigh J. ready for me and WOW!!! Fresh from her very first Bikini Competition at the NPC Emerald Cup, she looked spectacular! We went up against some of the best amateur NPC competitors and teams across the country and she shined!!! That being said, there was no way I wasn’t flying down for this and capture her incredible transformation by setting up a photo shoot for her the following day. This photo is one of many stunning images that hubby captured the day after her show. I also took this from her page: Coraleigh says, “I’m finally winding down now from an AMAZING and crazy weekend that was 4 months in the making. When I first started this adventure (this personal challenge to try something so completely outside of my comfort zone, and take on THE biggest amateur Bikini …

To bring out your abs…DON’T TRAIN YOUR ABS

With all of the research out there, it’s still astonishing to hear people recommend countless ab exercises, stomach crunches, or sit ups for lean and flatter stomach. For most people, the biggest problem is the subcutaneous fat that sits on top of the mid-section area and the only way to tap into that is through diet. Strategizing your food intake as a calorie deficit forces your body to utilize this “stored energy” to fuel your daily activities. There is no magic exercise that will trim away your body fat. If you’re looking for even more proof, a study done in Southern Illinois University by the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education took 24 healthy individuals (14 men and 10 women) between ages 18-40 and split them up into 2 groups: The first group did 7 different ab exercises for 2 sets of 10 reps, 5 days per week for 6 weeks. The second group did NOTHING. Both groups maintained the same diet throughout the trial period. After 6 weeks, there was absolutely no significant effect of …

Options, options, options.

When it comes to fat loss, the more options that you have available to you the better your chances of seeing your weight loss goals to fruition. For workouts, a training session at home with limited equipment can profoundly trigger fat loss. Body weight training is fast and efficient. I use body weight training often and recommend it to many clients. I find the results highly effective especially if a client has been sedentary for a number of months. However, once a higher level of conditioning is achieved, having a wide variety of equipment options will allow you to train different body parts and muscle groups using an unlimited amount of weight resulting in better gains. When it comes to nutrition, having an unlimited option of food sources to work with makes the fat loss process much easier to strategize versus a diet that is restrictive in food groups. Losing the ability to manipulate Protein sources and/or Carbohydrate sources makes diet planning extremely challenging. The one constant with fat loss is it isn’t constant and …

Are you Eating Clean or Eating Correctly?

The topic of “eating clean for fat loss” always seems to come up. Yes if you eat clean (and by that I mean 100% quality food choices and also consistently for a lengthy period of time), fat loss can be a byproduct of your food selection. However this is a really blind approach to achieving long lasting and successful fat loss. I can say first hand, I’ve fielded COUNTLESS inquiries from people saying “I eat clean but I just can’t seem to lose the weight”.I want to clarify “eating clean” doesn’t mean eating CORRECTLY when it comes to fat loss. To me, it just means you’re eating quality food sources.Further to this, in dissecting many of these messages “eating clean” also means a heck of a lot of different things to a whole lot of people. In fact, I’ve rarely found it to mean the same thing for the average person.Eating kale twice a week but eating pizza, ice cream, french fries, fried chicken, cake, and so on a numerous amount of times per week is NOT …
