Baby Shoulder Presses

Because time is of the essence for all new Mommies, sometimes getting to the gym on a regular basis isn’t a realistic goal but that’s not to say we can’t get our workouts in with some creativity! One of the simplest movements we can do with our Baby is Seated or Standing Shoulder Presses. I recommend performing these when Baby is 3 months or older so the experience of being lifted up and down in a controlled manner is both pleasant and fun. This can be also be used as an alertness game in addition to getting a quick and short shoulder workout in that also allows us to engage our core muscles, preparing us to help build the strength necessary when we’re ready to return to the gym on a more regular basis. – Stand in neutral position with legs shoulder width apart/In seated position with legs – Mommy holds baby firmly under arm pits and around the waist – Straighten arms upwards without locking elbows – Pause Baby at the top and smile …

Plan, plan, plan.

A little caution to the wind and some Food Prep planning helps avoid the dietary mishaps that will often plague our day because we all know that there’s no avoiding food temptations – it’s everywhere right??? As a busy mommy, taking some downtime for food organization helps me stay on track because when I’m on plan – my food is cooked and prepped on the weekends so, during my upcoming busy week, my meals are ready and there are no surprises. I also know, and am well aware, of all of my nutrition obstacles by writing them down along with accompanying solutions to help me avoid any dietary breakdowns in plan…which is usually my hubby. Protein Grab and Go Bites!

I’ve always been a ‘Busy-Bee’ with owning my own business but the word ‘busy’ is on a whole new level now that I’m a #Mommy. During times of chaos…in between feeding my boy, tending to my boy, coaching clients, writing, doing laundry (2-3 loads a day with my Spitup Monster), dishes, running after 3 ferrets (yes 3!!) etc. etc. etc. it’s so easy to grab unhealthy fast food choices (and I have been guilty of this!). When I made these protein bites I was surprised with how filling they are! They’re especially great in between meals or when craving a little something sweet…and they definitely help out a VERY hungry (sometimes hangry lol!) breastfeeding Momma! Try them out 🙂 Ingredients: 1/2 cup raw oats 3/4 cup natural peanut butter 1 scoop of Interactive Nutrition’s Whey Protein chocolate protein powder 1/4 cup shaved coconut (unsweetened) 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips How to make: Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined Form into 1 inch balls Refridgerate for a couple hours and they are ready to …

Strong Mommy Breakfast

Now that I have even less time as a #NewMommy, breakfast has to be incredibly quick and simple. I make these pancakes in threes and store in the fridge for a quick grab and go in the morning. I often have a second one as a meal or post workout too. Ingredients: 1/2 cup Oatmeal  1/2 cup Egg Whites  Sprinkle of Cinnamon  1-2 tbsp Ground Chia Seeds  Packet of stevia (optional)  1/4 cup Greek Yogurt (2%)  1/2 cup Pineapple  1 tbsp organic Maple Syrup  How to make:  Combine oatmeal, egg whites, cinnamon, stevia  in a bowl and mix until combined.  Heat half a tablespoon of coconut in a nonstick pan on medium heat. Pour mixture in the pan, cook each side for 3-4 minutes. Combine Greek Yogurt and Maple Syrup, mix until smooth.  Scoop Greek Yogurt and pineapple (or another fruit you like) on top of the pancake and EAT! 🙂

6 Weeks into Motherhood

I am now 6 weeks postpartum and WOW! Motherhood has been quite the experience thus far. I heard a lot of different things from so many different people prior to my delivery (i.e. what to expect, what was horrible, what was delightful, etc.) but I took everything with a grain of salt because as much as I love hearing other Mommy Stories I hated hearing how hard it was going to be and how there will be no time for anything, etc, etc, etc. To be honest those comments just fuelled my fire to actually try to do more! I’m not saying that motherhood is easy because it’s not (far from it) but with a few adjustments, sacrifices (one being the state of my house lol) and lots and lots of planning I find that I am able to do even more than I expected. I’ve adjusted to the shortage of sleep, erratic eating times, and when I’m breastfeeding I’m actually planning, planning, planning.  When baby sleeps, I take that opportunity to exercise (I’m blessed …

My Top 5 New MOMMY Essentials!

I think all us new Mommies can attest to the research we do on ‘Baby Stuff’. We have Baby Showers for our registries and this alone can be an extremely overwhelming task for us. I personally asked all my Mommy-friends what their ‘must haves’ were and received a wide variety of answers and options. I then planned my registry around the items that were mentioned 2 or more times and now that I am a Mommy myself with a 4-week old baby boy I have come up with my Top 5 New Mommy Essentials that I could not live without! 1. Double Electric Breast Pump by ‪#‎Madela‬ – Breastfeeding can be very daunting at first as your newborn is eating every 2-3 hours OR like my baby boy every hour (he’s a snacker!). This can be tough on Mommy because you feel like a walking, talking COW and your nipples also feel the pain…ouch!!! As a new Mom who owns a business with no maternity leave, there is no downtime and deadlines still need to …
