How to Manage Eating Out

For everyone that know me (or has worked with me), I am a HUGE believer in food flexibility! When it comes to dieting, I disagree with eliminating food groups and depriving yourself of what you crave or love because that is just plain ol’ restricting. When I diet, I’m very meticulous when it comes to calculating how much I eat along with choosing what I eat but, if my diet is on point for the week, having 1-2 responsibly chosen FREE MEALS to spend with family and loved ones is certainly not going to curtail my goals especially since I’ve been using this strategy for years and also have a solid understanding of what I’m eating (** this is key **) In saying that, for the majority of people (especially busy moms) eating out is inevitable and can happen more than just a special occasion.  What we order can have social implications and a negative effect on our waistline.  With the restaurant world in my blood (and dining out with my husband on a constant …

STRONG LIKE MOMMY

#StrongLikeMommy has begun with an e-book, but we are so much more than that. As our children grow up, we should never lose the drive to continue getting stronger and learning even more about how to live a healthier lifestyle. As strong mommies, it’s our responsibility to set an example of how to get more out of our lives, and the only way to do that is to lead by example. I cannot wait to share my #Postnatal e-book along with more of my journey as a new mommy 🙂 Photo by Dave Laus and Liana Lauzon MUH by Valeria Nova and Florencia Taylor

Postnatal Food Intake For Breastfeeding Mothers

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been inundated with numerous questions from many new mommies mostly around the topic of returning to their Pre-Pregnancy weight as quickly as possible AND what to eat and also how much. By the way, I LOVE MEETING AND INTERACTING WITH NEW MOMMIES! As a new Mommy myself, this might seem like an overwhelming task to think of especially when mothering a new baby is at the forefront of our minds so breaking it down to 2 simple steps will help ease the transition. 1) When it comes to getting your Pre-Pregnancy body back, I always suggest TAKE YOUR TIME especially if you’re breast feeding because this can take several months to even a year to achieve this. A good portion of the weight that a pregnant woman gains is basically an “energy deposit” to meet the extra caloric demands of breastfeeding . The great news is, this energy deposit is consumed gradually while we nurture our child so we will lean out. I suggest waiting until the baby is at …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Transformation

After 9 weeks of vacationing in Canada, STRONG MOMMY Carey H. (who lost an incredible 61 lbs!!!) sent an email as soon as she got back home to Australia to share with me some exciting news. Carey says, “Hi Jenny, I just had to share this with you – so I just got back from our 9 weeks holiday in Canada. I weighed myself this morning and I weigh exactly the same as the day I left for vacation! In Canada (after my photo shoot) I still prepped many of my meals and also enjoyed many free meals as it was obviously a very social holiday but I also kept up with my workouts while on holiday (because its just part of who I am now) and I have so much more energy and feel amazing. I’m so happy that I just returned from a huge holiday and came back pretty much the same weight but lifting so much more heavier weights at the gym…‪#‎STRONGGIRLS‬ style!” By following a ‪#‎maintainable‬ and ‪#‎sustainable‬ approach to exercise …

Protein Grab and Go Bites!

I’ve always been a ‘Busy-Bee’ with owning my own business but the word ‘busy’ is on a whole new level now that I’m a #Mommy. During times of chaos…in between feeding my boy, tending to my boy, coaching clients, writing, doing laundry (2-3 loads a day with my Spitup Monster), dishes, running after 3 ferrets (yes 3!!) etc. etc. etc. it’s so easy to grab unhealthy fast food choices (and I have been guilty of this!). When I made these protein bites I was surprised with how filling they are! They’re especially great in between meals or when craving a little something sweet…and they definitely help out a VERY hungry (sometimes hangry lol!) breastfeeding Momma! Try them out 🙂 Ingredients: 1/2 cup raw oats 3/4 cup natural peanut butter 1 scoop of Interactive Nutrition’s Whey Protein chocolate protein powder 1/4 cup shaved coconut (unsweetened) 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips How to make: Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined Form into 1 inch balls Refridgerate for a couple hours and they are ready to …

Strong Mommy Breakfast

Now that I have even less time as a #NewMommy, breakfast has to be incredibly quick and simple. I make these pancakes in threes and store in the fridge for a quick grab and go in the morning. I often have a second one as a meal or post workout too. Ingredients: 1/2 cup Oatmeal  1/2 cup Egg Whites  Sprinkle of Cinnamon  1-2 tbsp Ground Chia Seeds  Packet of stevia (optional)  1/4 cup Greek Yogurt (2%)  1/2 cup Pineapple  1 tbsp organic Maple Syrup  How to make:  Combine oatmeal, egg whites, cinnamon, stevia  in a bowl and mix until combined.  Heat half a tablespoon of coconut in a nonstick pan on medium heat. Pour mixture in the pan, cook each side for 3-4 minutes. Combine Greek Yogurt and Maple Syrup, mix until smooth.  Scoop Greek Yogurt and pineapple (or another fruit you like) on top of the pancake and EAT! 🙂
