Investing In Yourself

Benjamin Franklin said, “Do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of.” I want to ask you all how important your lives are? More specifically how important the quality of your life will be in the future and what you’re willing to do now to make it a more comfortable (and simply better) place tomorrow? With 2015 coming to a close, I’ve already finished my 2016 goals. The great news is, I accomplished just about everything I set out to do this year (aside from missing the National Women’s Show which might have been over ambitious on my part as a new mommy lol). With 2016 just around the corner and my goals so much bigger than this year’s, I’m realistic and mature enough to admit that I know exactly what I don’t know so over the last few months I’ve put together a team to help contribute to the greater improvement of my life (both personally and professionally). Creating a team around me to help me grow past my own …

A GINORMOUS THANK YOU TO UNDER ARMOUR

I want to send a GINORMOUS (is this a word?) THANK YOU to Under Armour for not only sending me my favourite care packages in the mail for my various Fitness Projects (seriously I can never get used to this) but for also coming to the rescue for my personal requests. Earlier this year an old colleague and good friend of mine (Sean) reached out to me hoping I would be able to donate some of my older UA clothes for a friend in need. My friend’s friend (Julie) was the unfortunate victim of a house fire on January 4 in Orangeville, ON losing all of their family belongs. Thankfully nobody was hurt. Rather than donate my old clothes, I kindly asked my Under Armour team for a number of items to help out and also because Julie was a fan of the brand…and they delivered for me. Julie says, “I wanted to thank you for your generosity and kindness. The clothes you gave Sean to pass along to me all fit perfect (in truth …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Coraleigh J.

Since we’re still in Victoria, BC working off of a laptop, hubby is limited with regards to downloading all of the images that we captured this weekend but he did manage to get this photo of Coraleigh J. ready for me and WOW!!! Fresh from her very first Bikini Competition at the NPC Emerald Cup, she looked spectacular! We went up against some of the best amateur NPC competitors and teams across the country and she shined!!! That being said, there was no way I wasn’t flying down for this and capture her incredible transformation by setting up a photo shoot for her the following day. This photo is one of many stunning images that hubby captured the day after her show. I also took this from her page: Coraleigh says, “I’m finally winding down now from an AMAZING and crazy weekend that was 4 months in the making. When I first started this adventure (this personal challenge to try something so completely outside of my comfort zone, and take on THE biggest amateur Bikini …

STABILITY BALL DUMBBELL SHOULDER PRESS

With my recent neck issues due to some instability in my rhomboids and trapezius muscles, I had to adjust my training style over the last few weeks to lighter weights and more emphasis on my core. Over the last few years, minor injuries are now catching up to me causing muscle imbalances and small spasms in my neck and mid back so it’s time to adjust my training for this phase of my journey while I’m being treated. Today my principal movement for shoulder training is still the Dumbbell Press but performed on a Stability Ball (rather than seated on my adjustable bench or standing) to emphasize not only deltoid development but also core activation for balance and coordination. This exercise is also a wonderful change up for your shoulder training routine regardless of injury. Sitting on the stability ball with my feet firmly planted on the ground and my abdominals tight, my butt and hips are squeezed to ensure my pelvis remains stable and hips are flat throughout the movement. With palms facing forward, …

Are you Eating Clean or Eating Correctly?

The topic of “eating clean for fat loss” always seems to come up. Yes if you eat clean (and by that I mean 100% quality food choices and also consistently for a lengthy period of time), fat loss can be a byproduct of your food selection. However this is a really blind approach to achieving long lasting and successful fat loss. I can say first hand, I’ve fielded COUNTLESS inquiries from people saying “I eat clean but I just can’t seem to lose the weight”.I want to clarify “eating clean” doesn’t mean eating CORRECTLY when it comes to fat loss. To me, it just means you’re eating quality food sources.Further to this, in dissecting many of these messages “eating clean” also means a heck of a lot of different things to a whole lot of people. In fact, I’ve rarely found it to mean the same thing for the average person.Eating kale twice a week but eating pizza, ice cream, french fries, fried chicken, cake, and so on a numerous amount of times per week is NOT …
