Turn the page…

I love this write up courtesy of Mandy Hale that I found online last year that really summed up how we should continuously move forward in life. In the past, I’m entirely guilty of holding on to what comforts me most which failed me in moving forward in my life. When I finally started embracing and welcoming change (both the good and the unexpected), my life started to evolve allowing me to accomplish all of my deepest desires. It’s funny really. That we can hold ourselves back simply by being resilient to one of life’s greatest gifts – EXPERIENCING NEW THINGS. I hope this write-up positively impacts your day just like it did for me. Happy Wednesday! TURN THE PAGE Don’t stay stuck re-reading the last chapter because what’s to come is uncertain. Everything in life that matters starts off with a little uncertainty. The stories your life has told in the past were good…and they got you to today…so be thankful for them but then let them go. Turn the page. Allow yourself to be …

Toxic People – Get Rid Of Them

One of the biggest struggles my clients constantly encounter is guilt from “friends” just for choosing to be a better version of themselves. Of course it’s not just my clients. It’s almost everyone that wants to take their fitness goals to another level. Even me! While I certainly encourage a periodic dieting break while “on plan” to be used with friends, family, or loved ones so there’s plenty of room to enjoy food freely without getting negative commentary about your health choices… There are always others that are scheming to derail you or belittle you simply because they can’t take charge of their own life. So my advice when it comes to those people who belittle your goals and ambition: GET RID OF THEM. They’re TOXIC. Because when you do get rid of them, it’s still not fast enough. Having supportive people in your life is so important and when they fit my “Triangle Of Safety”, then I know I’m in good company. i) People that are truly happy for your success. ii) People that …

“Life Always Gets In The Way…”

None of us are exempt from the pressures in life. We all have stress and situations that test us or possibly even push us to the brink of crumbling. All too often, something or someone or some moment, causes us to lose track of our goal and revert back to behaviours that no longer add value to our lives. We’ve all been there right? Of course most of the time we don’t choose our adversity BUT we certainly have the power to choose our response to it. And it’s this response that I call the “IF Factor”. IF we respond positively to challenges and difficulties, then the outcome will be potentially positive. IF we respond negatively to our challenges and difficulties, then the outcome will be potentially negative. IF we respond to challenges and difficulties in the same manner as we always respond to it (i.e. emotional eating, BLTs, etc.), then the outcome will almost certainly be the same. The pain of adversity never leaves us unchanged, but if treated right, can be the catalyst …

My Top 10 Rules To Be Your Best Self & Best Mother To Your Child

I love being a Mom, it’s the biggest gift and blessing I’ve ever received. I think as women we build up the perfect picture of what Motherhood should be, while trying to do it all ourselves, not taking time for ourselves and on top of it all trying to look amazing while doing it, sound about right? Why are we so darn hard on ourselves? I’m guilty of this but I have a few rules that I live by to help me replenish my soul and keep me on track to be my best self and Mom to Jax. 1. Cut TV time and get to bed early so I can wake up before Jackson and enjoy a cup of coffee and a book or creative writing time in silence. 2. I weight train 4 times a week and go on a daily walk with my boy. 3. I plan a date night with my hubby once a week. 4. I listen to a podcast while having a mani-pedi. 5. I garden (I usually have …

Don’t limit yourself…

Don’t limit yourself with the infinite opportunities that are out there to be the best version of you possible! It’s out there but we have to actively seek it out. – If your habits/behaviours are holding you back, change them – If your schedule constantly doesn’t allow you to better yourself, plan and get organized (we only have 1 life to live…live it with purpose and happiness) – If the people around you are negative, find new people to hang around with – If the people you go to eat with constantly sabotage your diet, find new people to dine with Do NOT stay in your comfort zone if your life is cascading out of control and you’re not able to accomplish your goals because it’s far more dangerous to do that (and live like that) than to look for solutions to your problems. There are also an infinite amount of people that have the same fitness, weight loss, or health goals as you do. Find them! The best decision I ever made for myself …

STRONG LIKE MOMMY Biweekly Progress – Jovana G.

I’ve been a little behind showcasing my STRONG GIRLS client progress but thought I would start off with an insane one so I’ll just say this – Crazy. That’s the word that echoes in my head when I see Jovana Golubovic’s progress…and this is just from the back! My client Jovana came to me a few months ago looking to lean out and, as a former competitive athlete in Basketball, frequently engaged in lengthy Bootcamp classes, some occasional CrossFit, and way too much cardio for my liking so we scaled all of that back and focused on exercise that was more inline with her goals by lowering volume, focusing on mobility and intensity as we created a reasonable caloric deficit through her diet which included plenty of food flexibility. Because of her competitive sports history in the past, Jovana also had a number of injuries including a torn rotator cuff, a torn meniscus, and some older ligament tears in her ankles so this was no easy task to navigate through. Fast forward to today and …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Transformation

After 9 weeks of vacationing in Canada, STRONG MOMMY Carey H. (who lost an incredible 61 lbs!!!) sent an email as soon as she got back home to Australia to share with me some exciting news. Carey says, “Hi Jenny, I just had to share this with you – so I just got back from our 9 weeks holiday in Canada. I weighed myself this morning and I weigh exactly the same as the day I left for vacation! In Canada (after my photo shoot) I still prepped many of my meals and also enjoyed many free meals as it was obviously a very social holiday but I also kept up with my workouts while on holiday (because its just part of who I am now) and I have so much more energy and feel amazing. I’m so happy that I just returned from a huge holiday and came back pretty much the same weight but lifting so much more heavier weights at the gym…‪#‎STRONGGIRLS‬ style!” By following a ‪#‎maintainable‬ and ‪#‎sustainable‬ approach to exercise …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Carey H.

I’m so proud to be a part of Carey H’s fitness journey. She came to me looking to loose weight after the birth of her 2nd baby and she has achieved so much more than that. Carey came to me very active but only relying on cardiovascular based exercise and she was disheartened because the weight kept creeping upwards so we put together a strategy that had us focusing more on resistance training (beginning with “at home” workouts and eventually transitioning to the gym) for the purpose of strength and shaping her muscles along with a diet that was calculated for her and her goals. We certainly didn’t restrict foods as my main focus was strengthening her metabolism because once we established this, then everything else would fall into place. This STRONG MOMMY was tightening up, enjoying plenty of food and food options, getting stronger, having more energy/vibrancy, loving life, and embracing fitness as a lifestyle. Even though our focus was metabolism, I am so proud to share her 61 lbs transformation! 61!!! In addition …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Katrina T.

Last week I got Katrina T. to come over for a visit so we can capture some progress photos and was she ever sizzling hot!!! This competitive Football player came to me looking to tighten up and learn some new things about nutrition and break the “dieting” mindset of avoiding certain foods. We put together a strategy with plenty of food flexibility and higher food intake to fuel this her very active lifestyle as a competitive athlete. As we made progress, we opened up even more food flexibility and freed her from “Dieting Prison”. This STRONG GIRL shredded almost 4 inches around her waist, 3 inches from her hips, and dropped 10 (insignificant) lbs and looks GORGEOUS!!! Love those abs! I can’t wait to share more of Katrina’s journey (and beautiful photos) coming soon!!!

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Biweekly Progress – Carey H.

Weight Training 4x/week with 3 short HIIT sessions/week, plenty of food flexibility (and carbs), and enjoying the Christmas Holidays with family and loved ones resulting in 46 lbs (!!!) lost to date. Wowzers. Even better, this STRONG MOMMY from Australia has shredded an insane 14 inches around her belly button and 9 inches off of her hips…and she’s still going strong with a healthy, flexible, and sensible (and SANE) approach to Dieting. So proud of you Carey! I can’t wait to show off more of her progress! #MondayMorningMotivation
