10 Year Wedding Anniversary…

My client, STRONG MOMMY Joanna F. (who works with me from Paraguay), is looking spectacular in her wedding dress (especially with those STRONG GIRL shoulders and arms!) as she celebrates her 10 Year Wedding Anniversary with Rio De Janeiro in the background! Joanna says, “Hi Jenny! It was always my dream to be able to wear my wedding dress again on my 10th anniversary and do a photoshoot in it. A lady once told me that once I become a mother that my body will never be the same either through weight gain or the way clothes will fit such as a pair of old jeans. At that time I didn’t know what to think but today I know it is possible…and to in even better shape than when I was younger! My jeans are even smaller and I also fit into my wedding dress! Being a mom of 2 required more dedication and commitment for me to stay on track with my workout and eat with compliance but I know how important it is …

Investing In Yourself

Benjamin Franklin said, “Do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of.” I want to ask you all how important your lives are? More specifically how important the quality of your life will be in the future and what you’re willing to do now to make it a more comfortable (and simply better) place tomorrow? With 2015 coming to a close, I’ve already finished my 2016 goals. The great news is, I accomplished just about everything I set out to do this year (aside from missing the National Women’s Show which might have been over ambitious on my part as a new mommy lol). With 2016 just around the corner and my goals so much bigger than this year’s, I’m realistic and mature enough to admit that I know exactly what I don’t know so over the last few months I’ve put together a team to help contribute to the greater improvement of my life (both personally and professionally). Creating a team around me to help me grow past my own …

Don’t limit yourself…

Don’t limit yourself with the infinite opportunities that are out there to be the best version of you possible! It’s out there but we have to actively seek it out. – If your habits/behaviours are holding you back, change them – If your schedule constantly doesn’t allow you to better yourself, plan and get organized (we only have 1 life to live…live it with purpose and happiness) – If the people around you are negative, find new people to hang around with – If the people you go to eat with constantly sabotage your diet, find new people to dine with Do NOT stay in your comfort zone if your life is cascading out of control and you’re not able to accomplish your goals because it’s far more dangerous to do that (and live like that) than to look for solutions to your problems. There are also an infinite amount of people that have the same fitness, weight loss, or health goals as you do. Find them! The best decision I ever made for myself …

Hire A Trainer…at least once in your life

As a Trainer, I can get lost in my own schedule of managing my clients which can result in subpar intensity levels for my own workouts (even with a massive home gym in my basement). As a new Mommy, my duties at home (coupled with managing my business) has had me feeling overwhelmed at times too so working with another Trainer allows me to mentally shut down, let go of all my stresses for an hour, gives me another set of eyes to assess my own physique/tempo/form/intensity levels, and helps me push far beyond my comfort zone. Last Friday I visited SWAT (Synergy Wellness Attitude Training) to do some conditioning work with my good friend Kyle Ardill and, boy oh boy, am I still feeling the effects of that session today. Even better, it was so therapeutic just to let go and give control of my training to someone else (even as a Trainer myself). Don’t let giving up control be difficult especially if you’re working with a professional. Personally it’s been years since I’ve …

A Lesson Learned From Time Spent In The Gym…

If there’s one thing I learned in the Fitness Industry (both from personal experience and my peers) is to always see the time spent at the gym as an opportunity to inspire others and also raise the intensity of other people’s workouts around you. Of course you might have some in your circles purposely trying to derail you or talk you out of your goals (by the way you really should be limiting, or downright eliminating, time spent with these types of people) but be confident in knowing that deep down these people secretly wish they can do what you are trying to do. You are in the right! They are not. By bringing your absolute best into the gym, on a consistent basis, you’ll also bring out the best of the people around you. ‪

11 Thanksgiving Eating Tips for a Healthy Holiday Weekend

With Thanksgiving upon us, I thought it would be a great time to offer my some Thanksgiving Tips if you happen to be “on plan”. First and foremost, make sure your week is spot on with your diet and training followed by committing to get right back on plan after the weekend is over. Typically I would categorize Thanksgiving in the same manner as I do Christmas and Birthdays – enjoy yourself in the company of friends, family, and loved ones without even mentioning dieting. These holidays are rare opportunities for laughter, love, and company…and lots of football! Because I celebrate a lot of holidays with my 2 families and many dear friends which usually falls close to some fitness projects that I’m booked on, I use an 11 tip strategy to help me navigate through these events without feeling restricted or limiting the fun I have with the company around me. 1) Portion what you can control. If you’re serving yourself, be aware of overdoing the heavy calorie items such as gravy and dessert. …

LEAD BY EXAMPLE

One of the biggest obstacles a person might face when trying to lose weight is peer pressure from friends/family to eat off plan or even skip assigned workouts. While I certainly encourage an off plan meal in the week for flexibility purposes while dieting and even working particular foods into your plan, the bottom line is a strategy must be adhered to for the long term if one is to achieve a particular goal so if you don’t have social support (most of us won’t by the way) then be confident in your choices by taking charge as a leader because people will eventually respect your decisions even if it seems at first that they don’t. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to work with a client who overcomes these obstacles eventually growing into a person that now offers advice and support to others simply because they now ‪#‎LeadByExample‬ rather than just “following the crowd”. Taking charge of your health is admirable and never forget that YOU are the one making the right choices, not …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Client Progress

One of my favourite client progress pictures courtesy of the beautiful Melanie G. who’s awesome progress was the result of simply creating dieting structure while also enjoying plenty of food flexibility (fun on the weekends and holidays) and consistently pushing herself at the gym. This STRONG GIRL is down 15 lbs along with shredding 4 inches off her hips and another 4 inches around her belly button! More importantly the images and her change in appearance is out of this world! Melanie says, “I honestly can’t believe how easy it was to get to where I am right now. I though weight gain was inevitable because of my age or even genetics and thought it was going to be impossible to get back into the shape I was in when I was in my 20s and that I just needed to accept it…but man am I glad I didn’t give up and decided to reach out to you and become a #StrongGirl. You made it so simple – Here’s the process, follow it, if you have any …

As we’re deep into Autumn and approaching November (and Christmas! I’m definitely going to enjoy this later today 🙂 Soup Ingredients: ■ 1 tbsp olive oil ■ 1 small onion, chopped ■ 1 tbsp fresh minced ginger ■ 2 cloves garlic minced ■ 1 large pumpkin squash, peeled and cubed ■ 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth ■ 2 cups water ■ 1/3 cup fresh squeezed orange juice ■ 1 medium baked sweet potato Directions: 1. Some weight gain after vacation….who cares???

I’m back from vacation and up about 7 pounds. So why am I posting this? Because a lot of my clients freak out after they come back from a vacation and their scale weight goes up (and this is why you shouldn’t rely on the scale). If you are away and enjoying yourself ➡eating, drinking, relaxing, sun tanning, and of course flying (this is a big one) your body will hold water. For me, it’s NOT 7 pounds of fat that I’ve gained in a span of a week (that’s crazy!). Once you get back to your normal routine those water pounds will come right off and, more importantly, the scale is only measures our relationship with gravity – break up with it, move on and judge your physique with the mirror and how your clothes fit! It’s back to training and long build for this Mama..time to build the booty☺
