TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Lana K.

I am so proud of the Lana K’s fitness journey who came to me last year looking to lean out and tighten up. She had already lost an incredible 60 lbs on her own through cardio and conditioning classes (wowee!!!) but, as all things go with too much cardio, her progress eventually came to a halt. Unfortunately Lana tried to continue through by doing even more cardio and conditioning only to find herself spinning her wheels with a lack of progress, finding herself more tired than usual, and (gasp) finding herself even putting on weight. Lana then found herself trying a number of different diet strategies (even at one time going Vegetarian) to no avail…even causing more weight gain. When we started working together I limited the amount of cardio she was doing (by a lot), increased her food intake (by a lot), and had her focus more on Weight Training for the purpose of increasing lean muscle rather than waste it away with cardiovascular activity. By taking a more controlled approach to her goals, …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Lise G.

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Testimonial I had the pleasure of working with Lise G. and proudly watched her transform physically by adhering to her program. We put together a strategy that moved her away from cardio (‪#‎SayNoToCardio‬) and integrated Resistance Training/Weight Lifting to really shape her body. We also created a structured nutrition program for the purpose of achieving her goals along with plenty of food flexibility to equip her with the tools to MAINTAIN AND SUSTAIN her incredible transformation. This STRONG GIRL lost 27 lbs along with shredding off 7 inches around her waist, 6 inches off of her hips, and 8 inches off of her thighs. She looks tight, fit, strong, and gorgeous!!! Lise says, “Hi Jenny, before I joined TEAM STRONG GIRLS, I was working out but didn’t have much direction or focus with what I was doing. I thought I was eating healthy with a bit of binge eating and was obviously having trouble with portion control. I felt sluggish, tired, and was having a terrible year emotionally after my husband left …

Curried Pumpkin Soup

Yay! It’s Halloween and what better way to celebrate the festivities with a satisfying rich buttery festive soup. The pumpkin makes the soup sweet and fibrous while the curry and ginger gives it a nice kick. I love adding a fresh dollop of Greek Yogurt for the tartness to mellow out the spice and it’s also a great way to add more lean protein. This dish is packed with fibre, nutrients and is so quick and simple to make for the entire family. Serve with chicken or lean white fish a complete satisfying meal for the entire family. Ingredients: 1 onion diced 1 tbsp coconut oil 2-4 garlic cloves 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced 1 tsp curry powder 3/4 tsp coriander 1/2 tsp cumin 1/4 tsp cloves 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional if you like spice) 1 can of pumpkin puree (unsweetened) 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth 3/4 cup coconut milk (low fat optional) 1/4 Greek yogurt (0% Plain) for garnish with each serving 1 tbsp Toasted pumpkin seeds for garnish with each …

Goal setting with my Baby Bean…Like Mommy.

Since it’s Social Media’s famous Throwback Thursday, I decided to go through some older photos and stumbled upon an image captured during a photo shoot I did with the incredible Paul Buceta (which actually wasn’t even that long ago but now feels like a lifetime ago with my growing belly). As I’m deep into the 2nd Trimester of my pregnancy, one of the most harrowing thoughts that can go through an expecting Mommy’s mind is “how do I get back into pre-baby shape?”. These thoughts are echoing through my mind more frequently but what’s keeping me grounded is the fact that I haven’t deviated from consistent exercise and keeping on top of the training program I designed for myself. Knowing that I’m going to meet the new love-of-my-life in a few more months gives me butterflies as my excitement grows by leaps and bounds almost hourly. I’m also starting to feel his little kicks and movements so my imagination of giving him kisses and snuggles is happening constantly. With fitness being such a major component …

Pumpkin Protein Pancake

Although Thanksgiving has come and gone there is still a place for PUMPKIN PUREE in a variety of recipes. The bright orange flesh of a pumpkin is packed with fibre and essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin A, E, potassium and zinc, all aiding in digestions and a healthier a immune system. Pumpkin puree is easy to use in sweet or savory recipes but my favorite is to add it into my breakfast staple…the Protein Pancake. You must try my delicious Pumpkin Protein Pancake recipe.  🙂 Ingredients for pancake: 40 g Oatmeal 6 Egg Whites 1/4 cup of Pumpkin Puree (unsweetened) 1 packet of stevia 40 g Banana Cinnamon to taste 1 tbsp Coconut Oil Ingredients for topping: 3 tbsp Greek Yogurt (0% Plain) 2 tbsp Pumpkin Puree (unsweetened) 1 tbsp Organic Maple Syrup 4-5 Blueberries 2 Strawberries (chopped) How to make pancake:  Pour all ingredients into a blender Blend for 15 seconds Heat 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a non-stick pan on medium heat Make sure entire pan is coated with oil Pour pancake …

Hip Flexor and Lower Back Relief

Located deep in our abdominal cavity, our hip flexors are responsible for some of our most daily functions such as lifting our knees and bending at our waist. The hip flexors are one of the most powerful muscles in our body but, over time, can also cause us much discomfort if over abused or under used. With most of us sitting at a desk for extended periods of hours for work, the hip flexors stay in shortened position and can tighten up due to being in a contracted position. Because of the antagonistic relationship to our lower back, this can also be the cause of poor posture leading to mild or severe lower back issues. If we throw in heavy exercise without adequately stretching our hip flexors out, we can cause mild to severe injury over time. One of the best ways to make sure we don’t develop any future issues in our hips and our lower back (and to also protect these muscles in the long term) is to always ensure we stretch out …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Biweekly Progress – Lise G.

Lise G. continues to tighten up and even astonishes herself as the weeks go by! This STRONG GIRL is down 26 lbs and has also shredded 7 inches around her waist, 6 inches around her hips, and 8 inches off of her thighs following a sane approach to dieting that consisted of plenty of carbs and meals of her choice through the duration of her program…and very limited cardio. The best part of this awesome progress is…she’s still continuing to lean out even more. Lise says, “Hi Jenny, my abs are starting to come out and all of my Skinny Pants are starting to fall off…” Love it. No tricks. No short cuts. Lots of food. Lots of fun and a hot, tight body to boot that is just about ready for her photo shoot. I can’t wait to share this gorgeous STRONG GIRL’S story 🙂

PINK MONTH for TEAM STRONG GIRLS

I refer to October as PINK MONTH in which I will be campaigning TEAM STRONG GIRLS to join the fight against, not only Breast Cancer, but all cancers. We’ve all been affected in some way by this dreaded disease and I’m confident, with everyone’s support, we will find a cure! I will be supporting this cause on a regular basis personally and through my business. The heart and soul of my team, Jackie J., is one of my biggest inspirations. She is also an AIDS researcher, a humanitarian, a health/fitness enthusiast, and also a Cancer Survivor. This photo was taken last year when I flew down to San Francisco to meet her after her incredible 20 lbs weight loss journey to better health. Since her Success Story was posted, I’ve lost count as to how many messages of hope that I received from so many people because of her journey and am excited to share a few of these stories as quickly as this week! I cannot thoroughly express in words how much this visit …

STRONG GIRLS Recipe – Organic Lean Beef Chuck Stew

As a new Mommy-To-Be I have been feeling the urge to cook more, especially comfort food and heartier dishes like lasagna, stew, chili, curry, spaghetti sauces…you name it! Lets just say my hubby is very happy right now. 🙂 Since stew was a staple in my household growing up I felt the need to know how to make it. It’s funny because I would always turn my nose up at the idea of stew for dinner but now I crave it? Well I’m just going to blame my new found cravings on those darn pregnancy hormones…so I invested in a Crock Pot and made the healthiest version of “stew” that I could. I chopped and mixed all ingredients into the crock-pot, set it on slow cook for 10 hours and hit the sack…fast forward to the morning and voila it was done. It was simple, tasty and definitely a MUST TRY! Ingredients – Serves 6-8 2-4 pounds of organic lean beef chuck stew meat 1/2 cup spelt flour Sea Salt and Pepper to taste 3 …

DIET COACHING – is it right for you?

Coach – /kōCH/ Definition – An athletic instructor or trainer Many of my clients come to me with stories of countless attempts at weight loss. These attempts vary from mild (to even extreme) starvation, portion reduction, no carbs, no fats, clean eating, fat burning pills, miracle shakes, cleanses, workout videos, various forms of exercise, etc – the list goes on and on and on. For the amount of people that start a program, there are very few that achieve their overall desired goals. Before I continue I have to point out that goals and results are 2 very different accomplishments. Some make progress but it is usually the same story, “My program worked great because I lost ‘x’ amount of lbs the first month but then it stopped and I gained it all back” or “Everything was going so well and I lost so much weight in the beginning but then I stopped and I gained at all back plus more”. ** For the record, these aren’t GREAT programs if you gained back the weight …
