You only get out, what you put into it

I have the pleasure of coaching many women around the globe with their fitness goals and part of my process to get them to where they want to be involves biweekly check-ins where I not only assess physical progress but also (very important) behavioural changes. While weight loss is usually the initial focus, the work I do with my clients is a journey of overcoming behaviours that no longer add value to their health/well-being and to begin embracing new habits that are more inline with their goals. One of the most common situations that some of my clients experience is disappointment in their progress and while it’s completely normal to want things to go faster (don’t we all?), the reality is it won’t. The body will respond when it’s ready but, we can all rest assured that with Dietary Compliance, it will happen. Now this is where I start on my Coaching Rant – NOBODY has any right to be disappointed with their progress if they are ‪#‎OffPlan‬ – more FREE MEALS consumed than assigned, …

6 Weeks into Motherhood

I am now 6 weeks postpartum and WOW! Motherhood has been quite the experience thus far. I heard a lot of different things from so many different people prior to my delivery (i.e. what to expect, what was horrible, what was delightful, etc.) but I took everything with a grain of salt because as much as I love hearing other Mommy Stories I hated hearing how hard it was going to be and how there will be no time for anything, etc, etc, etc. To be honest those comments just fuelled my fire to actually try to do more! I’m not saying that motherhood is easy because it’s not (far from it) but with a few adjustments, sacrifices (one being the state of my house lol) and lots and lots of planning I find that I am able to do even more than I expected. I’ve adjusted to the shortage of sleep, erratic eating times, and when I’m breastfeeding I’m actually planning, planning, planning.  When baby sleeps, I take that opportunity to exercise (I’m blessed …

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Success Story – Lise G.

TEAM STRONG GIRLS Testimonial I had the pleasure of working with Lise G. and proudly watched her transform physically by adhering to her program. We put together a strategy that moved her away from cardio (‪#‎SayNoToCardio‬) and integrated Resistance Training/Weight Lifting to really shape her body. We also created a structured nutrition program for the purpose of achieving her goals along with plenty of food flexibility to equip her with the tools to MAINTAIN AND SUSTAIN her incredible transformation. This STRONG GIRL lost 27 lbs along with shredding off 7 inches around her waist, 6 inches off of her hips, and 8 inches off of her thighs. She looks tight, fit, strong, and gorgeous!!! Lise says, “Hi Jenny, before I joined TEAM STRONG GIRLS, I was working out but didn’t have much direction or focus with what I was doing. I thought I was eating healthy with a bit of binge eating and was obviously having trouble with portion control. I felt sluggish, tired, and was having a terrible year emotionally after my husband left …

Your Coach is your biggest supporter…talk to them and do it often

In my experience one of the biggest reasons for not succeeding on a diet is thorough communication between client and coach, therefore, resulting in reverting back to old behaviours that are no longer useful. Having a coach means you’re a TEAM and allows you to ask questions to utilize their experience to help you succeed. Many of us have proven time and time again that we can follow a program for 2 (or even 4) weeks with minimal struggle. The strategy I design is straight forward and very meticulous in detail so while this can be an extremely easy read, it certainly doesn’t mean our schedules will abide to our plan. What it comes down to is life will always get in the way. Whether it’s family, work, holidays, events, or emergencies there will always be something that comes up over the span of your diet. When something arises that is out of our control causing us to temporarily fall off track, the best course of action is to get right right back on plan …
