Dieting can be a lonely road but don’t ever give up!

One of my clients asked me a question the other day. She has been doing such a wonderful job staying on plan but struggles around the food choices from her husband and 3 children. For the record, her progress is nothing short of extraordinary and I can’t wait to share her pictures but I wanted to share my reply to her: “While it’s no doubt the dieting process can be exponentially easier with our spouses joining in on all the fun, unfortunately, we’re usually travelling this road alone when it comes to home life and we can’t expect our family to embark on the same path or follow the same rules because everyone’s goals are different. Even though it may seem like you’re standing alone at home, the best thing we can do is set an example of better health. Nothing convinces people more than seeing a complete change, not only physically, but psychologically and emotionally. We can’t convince others to change their lifestyle or the food choices that they make and it certainly feel …

Are you Exercising or Training?

I receive many client inquiries from individuals desperate for change in their body. The surprising thing is most of these individuals workout very hard but are frustrated due to the lack of results especially for the amount of time theydedicate to their fitness activities. If there’s one thing I can pinpoint with these particular clients is there never really is concrete plan in place or a program to follow. When I put together a program it is for the sole purpose of training for a particular goal. In contrast, almost all active individuals that spin their wheels making no progress simply go into the gym and randomly exercise. On that note, there is a key difference between exercising and actually training for something. When I set up a training program for a new client, it’s almost, always automatic when they ask me after the first or second check-in, “am I getting a new training program?”. For the purpose of changing a person’s physique, a great plan is one that isn’t updated regularly but rather followed …

The Contest Bikini…

Okay this Toronto weather is out of control. Well not really. It’s February but I still not a fan of it. I’m counting down to some much needed bikini weather next month. Speaking of bikinis, I’m so excited for my TEAM STRONG GIRLS competition team as they’re beginning to choose the colours and fabrics for their respective shows. Eeks! This time of year is so exhilarating.  While I have no actual plans to compete, I picked up a few Competition Bikinis for myself from my good friend Colleen McConnell of The Crystal Suitso I can get a better understanding of what my girls go through from start to finish outside of just training and diet. With these bikinis looking so awesome, I had to get a few images captured during my photo shoot with Arsenik Studios Inc.. I just love the way these bikinis look. I can’t wait to see everyone on stage!!!

When are you going to compete?

I’m often asked “when are you going to compete?” and it never ceases to bring out a big smile from my face. When I see someone in great shape, I always wonder if they compete or if they’ve ever thought about it? It’s a testament to one’s commitment in the gym, to their diet, and to their body. But alas, I love COACHING. I truly do. When I see one of my clients on stage, I always think back to our very first conversation and the journey we took together. Watching someone physically transform is one thing. Bearing witness to a person transform from a self esteem, confidence, and goal setting standpoint is something on a completely different level of appreciation. Being a part of a person’s full metamorphosis (whether it is Contest Prep or traditional dieting) is a truly blessed experience for me and one that will always give me butterflies. When it comes to competing on stage, I’ll leave that to my team. Nothing makes me happier than being back stage 🙂   …
