Fit-Mommy Killer Circuit #2

Have no time? Try my second Fit-Mommy Killer Circuit and #LoseTheBabyWeight My little guys didn’t want to nap so I brought the Bumbo outside and he watched Mommy huff and puff …he even giggled. Start off by completing two rounds and work yourself up to the third in a couple of days. Try the circuit outdoors while the weather is still beautiful and let me know how it goes. Oh yes…I also had Ice Cream for my PWO.  One of my favourite post workout ‘fun food’ is a Skinny Cow Ice Cream. Why? Because they are the perfect combination of simple carbs and low fat with 30 g Carbs, 3 g Protein and only 2 g of fat and only 140 calories. One Ice cream sandwich with a protein shake powered by New Zealand Whey Isolate (22 g Protein per serving) is the perfect way to end off a butt kicking. My workouts are quick and efficient and my food is Yummy…Strong Girls Style 🙂

Craving CHOCOLATE?

One of the the most interesting side effects from breastfeeding is these crazy chocolate cravings I’m getting. I didn’t have much of a sweet tooth before or during pregnancy and I could easily pass up dessert, sweets or cookies but now it’s a completely different story. Since I started breastfeeding all I want is chocolate! I’ve been eating Lindt bars like they are going out of business (seriously!) but to my pleasant surprise there is actually a scientific explanation. When a woman nurses, deficiencies in magnesium or iron can occur making her desire chocolate, which has a fair amount of both minerals. Yay! That is a good enough excuse for this mama. With increasing my magnesium intake to 600 mg per day I decided to whip up my Chocolate Mousse recipe from my Strong Like Mommy Ebook, it definitely hit the spot and I got my chocolate fix with  an abundance of healthy fats (also super important while breastfeeding), lean protein from New Zealand Whey Protein Powder and skipped out on the process sugar – win, …

Postnatal Food Intake For Breastfeeding Mothers

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been inundated with numerous questions from many new mommies mostly around the topic of returning to their Pre-Pregnancy weight as quickly as possible AND what to eat and also how much. By the way, I LOVE MEETING AND INTERACTING WITH NEW MOMMIES! As a new Mommy myself, this might seem like an overwhelming task to think of especially when mothering a new baby is at the forefront of our minds so breaking it down to 2 simple steps will help ease the transition. 1) When it comes to getting your Pre-Pregnancy body back, I always suggest TAKE YOUR TIME especially if you’re breast feeding because this can take several months to even a year to achieve this. A good portion of the weight that a pregnant woman gains is basically an “energy deposit” to meet the extra caloric demands of breastfeeding . The great news is, this energy deposit is consumed gradually while we nurture our child so we will lean out. I suggest waiting until the baby is at …

Protein Grab and Go Bites!

I’ve always been a ‘Busy-Bee’ with owning my own business but the word ‘busy’ is on a whole new level now that I’m a #Mommy. During times of chaos…in between feeding my boy, tending to my boy, coaching clients, writing, doing laundry (2-3 loads a day with my Spitup Monster), dishes, running after 3 ferrets (yes 3!!) etc. etc. etc. it’s so easy to grab unhealthy fast food choices (and I have been guilty of this!). When I made these protein bites I was surprised with how filling they are! They’re especially great in between meals or when craving a little something sweet…and they definitely help out a VERY hungry (sometimes hangry lol!) breastfeeding Momma! Try them out 🙂 Ingredients: 1/2 cup raw oats 3/4 cup natural peanut butter 1 scoop of Interactive Nutrition’s Whey Protein chocolate protein powder 1/4 cup shaved coconut (unsweetened) 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips How to make: Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined Form into 1 inch balls Refridgerate for a couple hours and they are ready to …

6 weeks Postpartum Accountability Check!

I’m 6 weeks postpartum and I finally have the ‘green light’ to lift heavier and increase metabolic and core stability training, the gloves are off and I’m picking up the intensity. Since I am breastfeeding I’ll be eating healthy (as per usual) but eating what I want and when I want without counting calories. As part of my lifestyle ritual, I have a good idea of how much I need to eat with measurements of protein and carb sources along with keeping up dietary fat intake. One of the amazing things about breastfeeding is that you can burn up to 500 calories a day so my extra ice cream and cookie splurges balance out the energy deficit it creates (umm…bonus!). I’m going to increase the volume of exercise along with intensity levels but will keep my sessions at no longer than 45 minutes (free time is of the utmost importance when you’re a new Mommy). I’ll forego the typical cardio based work and save it for walks in the fresh air with my boy…and most importantly enjoy being a Mommy …

My Top 5 New MOMMY Essentials!

I think all us new Mommies can attest to the research we do on ‘Baby Stuff’. We have Baby Showers for our registries and this alone can be an extremely overwhelming task for us. I personally asked all my Mommy-friends what their ‘must haves’ were and received a wide variety of answers and options. I then planned my registry around the items that were mentioned 2 or more times and now that I am a Mommy myself with a 4-week old baby boy I have come up with my Top 5 New Mommy Essentials that I could not live without! 1. Double Electric Breast Pump by ‪#‎Madela‬ – Breastfeeding can be very daunting at first as your newborn is eating every 2-3 hours OR like my baby boy every hour (he’s a snacker!). This can be tough on Mommy because you feel like a walking, talking COW and your nipples also feel the pain…ouch!!! As a new Mom who owns a business with no maternity leave, there is no downtime and deadlines still need to …
