If you’re looking to build muscle, trigger fat loss efficiently, and wanting to consistently improve your physique then I always recommend lifting weights and the science of Resistance Training.
However if you’re one of the many that find the approach of weight training very daunting because you’ve been out of the gym atmosphere for quite some time, I highly encourage Group Fitness Classes especially when it comes to New Years Resolutions. Even with Resistance Training as my recommended method for fitness, I love engaging in conditioning training 1-2x per week as a change up from the treadmill.
Individuals can develop a very solid foundation with bodyweight exercises to develop power, improve conditioning, increase your metabolism, and start you off on the fat burning process very quickly. Most importantly, Group Classes can be fun. The fun aspect (along with the new friends you make in the group) can greatly increase the chances of you sticking to your program for a longer period of time and is a wonderful way to start implementing fitness into your lifestyle.
Key bodyweight power exercises include a variety of explosive push ups, pull ups, lunges, squats, and jumps. If you’ve been stagnant for a long time, bodyweight training in a group atmosphere is an awesome way to kick start your fitness levels, keep you committed to your New Year’s Resolution, and you can experience dramatic fat loss very quickly.
