TEAM STRONG ATHLETE Success Story – Mike M.

TEAM STRONG ATHLETE Success Story

About 7 months ago, my client Mike M. (age 40, Father of 2) and I had a chat about competing on stage in Men’s Physique. Competing in the world of Bodybuilding was always a dream of his since he was in his 20s and was an avid fitness fanatic.

Due to personal issues in his family that required his full attention, Mike was detrained for almost 1 year when we got started but I knew he held a lot of natural muscle so getting on stage was a realistic goal for 2013. I’m so proud of his dedication because he did not waver once and stayed fully committed day in and day out.

This STRONG ATHLETE competed at the OPA London Championships and received a 2nd callout (in a class of over 20 competitors) in the biggest and most competitive show in the organization’s history. As the only 40 year old competing against countless 20 and 30 year olds, Mike placed Top 10 or close to it (we’re still awaiting final placings). We are very happy because this was his first show and we only had 7 months to fully prepare. He brought an amazing package to the stage and completely transformed his physique!

Mike says, “I lost my father to lung cancer this year. Some people do walks, marathons, or even Ironman (as my cousin did last year) in honor of their loved ones. Competing was my tribute for my dad. We both wore our LiveStrong bracelets since he was diagnosed and I haven’t take mine off since then. I don’t wear it for the brand, the trend, or who the sponsor was. I wear it to remember my dad and why it’s important to LIVE STRONG and LIVE HAPPY.

The world of fitness also reminds me of him. He loved training until he no longer could. So when my journey became challenging from the training or the food prep, I would hear my dad’s voice saying “you think that’s hard to do? It’s not!”

Training is tough but I will never compare it to the real hardship some people have to go through. I truly admire people who overcome their challenges and I got up on stage to honor the ones who couldn’t.”

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey, Mike. We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see you on stage again inspiring others.
