A few months ago I wrote a post on Premenstrual Week and our insane cravings for chocolate and sugary foods. During this time of the month we lose Progesterone and Magnesium. Chocolate is a very high in magnesium which explains the cravings. Unfortunately chocolate candy at the store is filled with awful white sugar and garbage so I implore everyone to stay aways from that.
I recommend increasing fish oil dosages and the usage of coconut oil because high quality fats (along with foods rich in Vitamin B complex) will curb cravings.
I also recommend putting together some desserts using Raw Chocolate Powder. This is a superior option to store candy and provides so many health benefits (such as reducing cataracts, improving heart function, and alleviating stress).
Unfortunately, no one knew how to go about this so I felt obliged to add this onto the cookbook.
I call these “Chocolate Squares”. Hardly creative. LOL! I’m open to more creative names by the way.
Anyway here is the recipe and directions:
===========
½ cup raw cacao butter, melted
½ cup raw cashews
½ cup raw agave nectar
1 cup raw cacao powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (alcohol-free) or ½ vanilla bean seed
pinch of salt
shredded coconut
Place cashews, melted cacao butter, and agave into a food processor and mix until smooth. Add vanilla, chocolate cacao powder, and salt and process until mixed smooth.
Chill in freezer 40 minutes. Once chilled, sprinkle shredded coconut on top.
Cut into squares and store in freezer.
===========
Please use sparingly especially if you are on plan. I’ve had great success with these “chocolate squares” to curb cravings during that crazy time in the month for us.
And these taste wonderful! My hubby is eating these up like he’s losing progesterone and magnesium himself

Hey Jenny,
Is it weird I crave chocolate after a hard workout? Especially after HIITs. I drink so much water and my protein shakes. But after exercise I want chocolate!

Hi Fiona, your body will really crave food after HIIT. It’s best to carb up after. Send me an email and let me know exactly what you’re doing for HIIT and how many times. I’ll recommend something you’ll love 🙂
