Many people ask me what I eat to get into shape or stay lean. Do I diet all the time by starving myself or do I just eat vegetables or do I just drink protein shakes or do I not eat carbs and fats (etc, etc, etc.)?
The truth of the matter is I eat whatever I want, within my means. I enjoy eating burritos, I enjoy schnitzels, and I certainly will indulge in Salt and Vinegar chips. I also know when I’ve overindulged and put a limit on what I consume.
I consume enough calories that keep my body in a ‘maintenance’. If I have to get leaner because of a photo shoot, I will 1) consume less calories, 2) tighten up my diet for 3 weeks, 3) and turn up the training.
For my clients, the approach is the same. Reduce calories, create dietary structure, eliminate bad food choices, apply resistance training and throw in some cardio for good measure. If someone has more body fat, the process is longer until we reach that goal.
When we’ve reached that goal, we go to maintenance.
Eat according to your goals. There is absolutely no such thing as losing fat without REDUCING YOUR CALORIE INTAKE, ELIMINATING CRAPPY FOOD SOURCES, and CREATING STRUCTURE WITH YOUR MEALS.
